1.5-hour evening workshops for older kids and adults, with a new science-inspired theme each month. Each workshop centres around a creative piece participants make and take home.
September: Fossil Stories
Science and Art Inspired by Deep Time
Unearth, sculpt and create your way through the prehistoric past with a new take-home art experience each week.
The same project runs all three nights. Pick whichever evening suits you.
WEEK 1 · SEPT 3 to 5
Build Your Own Fossil Dig
Create a miniature prehistoric excavation site with handmade fossil bones embedded in your own decorated dig box, a complete mini fossil excavation to take home.
WEEK 2 · SEPT 10 to 12
Prehistoric Cave Art
Create your own cave-wall-inspired artwork using natural pigments such as charcoal, ochre and clay. Experiment with animal forms, hand stencils and prehistoric symbols to create a textured piece to take home and display.
WEEK 3 · SEPT 17 to 19
Puzzle Through Deep Time
Choose a favourite period from Earth's geological timeline, from the Cambrian seas to the Jurassic or Ice Age, and illustrate the prehistoric world that existed then. Turn the finished artwork into a handmade jigsaw puzzle and puzzle box to take home.
WEEK 4 · SEPT 24 to 26
Cubist Dinosaur Skeletons
Sculpt individual dinosaur bones from clay and arrange them into an abstract skeleton inspired by Cubism, creating a unique piece of prehistoric artwork for display.
